A note about grommets: There are many types. Most marine applications require heavier rolled rim spur grommets. These grip the fabric, so they don’t turn in the fabric hole. They are also much heavier in construction since the metal edges are rolled under. The self-piercing style are lighter weight grommets without rolled edges. They are ideal for utility-type projects. Some have smooth washers while others have small gripper teeth. The teeth help to keep the grommet from rotating and damaging the surrounding fabric, much like the heavier spur grommets.
